Abstract

The paper examines reengineering reading comprehension through effective school library usage among secondary school students. Thus, reading culture enables one to acquire knowledge, seek individual selfimprovement and for re-creative purposes. The school library as a resource centre inspires a love of reading among users. This study aimed at establishing how the school library usage can be used to nurture a reading culture among students. The paper recommends that reading culture should be seen by all as a panacea for high productivity among students in not only the public schools but also in private secondary schools. Hence, it should be practiced by all levels of school management in order to quickly fast track and meet up with the aim of academic performance of students. Reading practice among students should be such that can cause motivation of students with the resultants effect of high academic productivity and performance.
